After John saw some road signs stating the obvious he challenged us to find our own and even hinted there may be a prize in store. Not that I'm desperate to win competitive or anything but I did resort to trying some blackmail. That didn't work so I started reading road signs. This is not the best thing to do when driving your dad's new car for the first time, through tiny country lanes in the English countryside. I even found a sign but due to the confines of the small country lane and the tail of traffic behind me I was not able to stop and take a photograph. The sign, at an entrance to a road (which was big enough for cars and struck me as an average country lane) said "Motors not allowed", I wouldn't like to live down that lane as it would be a long walk with the grocery shopping.
The only other sign I saw was in Wookey Hole Caves. Obviously the sign writer could not spell and when the mistake was noticed they just slipped in another E. So John does that win me a prize?
One last joke to share with you courtesy of John, I hope it doesn't offend anyone but it made me laugh.
When Mary Margaret didn't stir, little Johnny who was her friend sitting behind her, took his pencil and jabbed her in the rear. "God Almighty!" shouted Mary Margaret. The Nun said, "Very good" and continued teaching her class.
A little later the Nun asked Mary Margaret, "Who is our Lord and Savior?"
But Mary didn't stir from her slumber......Once again, Johnny came to her rescue and stuck Mary Margaret in the butt. "Jesus Christ!!!" shouted Mary Margaret and the Nun once again said, "Very good," and Mary Margaret fell
back asleep.
The Nun asked her a third question..."! What did Eve say to Adam after she had her twenty-third child?" Again, Johnny came to the rescue. This time Mary Margaret jumped up and shouted, "If you stick that thing in me one more time, I'll break it in half!"
The nun fainted...........

To E or not to E.
The Value of a Catholic Education and a #2 Pencil
Little Mary Margaret was not the best student in Catholic School. Usually she slept through the class.
One day her teacher, a Nun, called on her while she was sleeping. "Tell me Mary Margaret, who created the universe?"

Funny joke!!
The sign reminds me of "THINK AHEA
D"
Who has time to think of these jokes? Glad they do.
The no "E" sign is great!! I love signs like that.
LOL!!!! I went to a Catholic school too. I bet after the NUN got up, she "rewarded" Mary M real good!!:P
it was hard to tell from your Mum's pic--- I actually looked at the sign. you could only see 1/2 of it because of the gorilla. It looked like it was some kind of odd writing to me.
oh, well!
Brilliant!
The sign is funny and so is the joke. Thanks for the chuckle. :D
i love the joke. i'd heard it before but fortunately i can never remember jokes so each time for me is brand new....
I see now what was wrong with the sign.
The joke was a riot! I'm not offended!
ha ha ha - good joke.
I didn't notice the E in your mom's picture. My eyes just skimmed over it.
Love the no 'e' thing. The city we lived in before we moved back to California had many, many, *many* mispelled signs. I was always kind of shocked by the amount of errors. Too funny!
Good joke!
HA! That's funny! I am definitely going to be telling that one. Funny sign too, it almost looked on purpose until you pointed it out.
it took me forever to find that "e" you were talking about.
it was hiding in plain sight.
I'm having a real struggle posting comments this evening. On blogger and typepad both.
took me a time to spot that E....like it was hiding in plain sight.
Our neighbors had a sign by their pool
OOL.
Notice there is no P in our Pool.
Please keep it that way.
Poor Mary Margaret.
That's hysterical! I'll have to send it to a few friends. :)
The sign and the joke - great!
Very entertaining post and I loved the joke!
That was very funny Beccy!!!!!!
Really funny joke!
Your sign is funny, a prize-winner for sure. Your joke is hilarious and even funnier to me because our pastor's wife's name is Mary Margaret. I am going to send her your joke; she will get a kick out of your humor.
Hilarous!! That was too funny...
