It's party time!

To celebrate Mollies 11th birthday she choose to bring four of her friends to Clara Lara Fun Park. Yep folks this is the height of excitement here in the Emerald Isle. Luckily the rain stayed away although there was a bit of a cold wind. We spent six and a half hours there and returned home with a car full of exhausted children (and parents)!

Thank you all for your kind wishes regarding my egg buddy. The doctor I saw yesterday is also very confident that it is a benign cyst but I have to go to another hospital to get it removed. The doctor I saw cannot refer me to the other hospital so I have to go to my GP and pay another €60 just to get a letter of referral. How daft is that. Joules and I have been paying into a private healthcare scheme for 11 years and have never once used it as it does not cover GP appointments or A&E fees. Maybe I'll be able to use it to get my knee looked at sooner rather than later.

I am totally convinced that insurance is total b.s. but if you don't have it your MORE scr*wed!
Glad it's not a big deal (the egg!)

That looks like a great park to have a party at! My kids would love it.

Glad the dr didn't think it was anything serious and I think insurance stuff is crazy here sounds like its just as crazy there.

glad that the doc thinks the knee is going to be ok- can you call and ask the office for a letter of referral without going in? It may be worth a try to save money.

glad Mollie had a fun birthday party

I'm still paying bills from sinus surgery 2 years ago!!!! It's all a load of crap to me!

Glad Mollie had a good day (and everyone else too!)

Looks like a VERY fun birthday!!!

I'm glad the egg is only a cyst. Whew! That sucks about the insurance though - those companies sure know how to suck you dry.

It's amazing what doctors charge to write a letter. Crazy!

Looks like Mollie had a great day.

I loved the pictures of the kids!! I hope Mollie had a great day!

Oh, and I'm not too keen about insurance, either. And I think it's absurd to have to pay for a referral. Nutters. No, scammers.

Looks like a fun party :)

Good luck with your knee.

wow, beccy. 60 euros for a referral? there's got to be another way. my doctor will just make a call for me if it's nothing big; if it's something significant (and maybe a cyst that requires surgery would be considered significant, in that regard) i do have to go in and see her in person. but even then it's only $20 (and insurance pays the rest).

and here i thought the US had the worst health care in the world. i guess everybody gets screwed one way or another.

good luck to you. let us know when your procedure will be.

bummer about the reference letter -daylight robbery!!

enidd reckons it would be a good idea to get some money's worth for that private health care, if you can get an appointment quicker!

Dear beccy. Isn't it always the way with health care. My mother had a similar experience when we were kids, and in the end, the Australian government medicare (public health system) ended up looking after us just as well, and just as quick, than the private health funds, with a lot less headache.

Ooooh, looks like loads of fun!!! We don't have anything like that around here anymore. :(
