My Egg Buddy

Wednesday night was the first league match of the season, the summer season that is, which is probably why I played for two hours in the rain. This much you know already and you know that I won, which was all the more thrilling because the girl I played beat me rather comprehensively last year so the win felt good. It was after the win that I felt not quite as good.

After playing for two hours in the rain it was time for a nice hot shower, which is one thing our tennis club does have. As I was luxuriating in the shower both over the gallons of steaming water pouring over me and the sweet win I had just procured I noticed that somehow a Cadburys creme egg had somehow got inside my skin and was know bulging out of my knee. I kid you not. A big egg shaped lump was sticking out of my knee. I screamed and showed a team mate who was convinced I must have hit it. I'll be the first to admit that I do quite often hit myself with the tennis racquet when serving and as I serve quite hard this is very sore and results in lots of bruises on my knees and shins. Wednesday I definitely did not hit myself. There was no bruising. Just the egg.

At the supper table after both teams had finished their matches I felt like the 'show and tell' as my egg shaped lump was examined and everybody offered an opinion, none of which made me feel any better. I left the clearing and washing up early to head home and, following the advice I'd been given, elevated and iced my knee. Yesterday morning the swelling had subsided but by the end of the busy day my little egg buddy was back. A quick trip to the chemist and I have some tablets and advice (rest and elevation). Do you know how uncomfortable it is sat here at the computer with my leg elevated. If my little egg buddy is still here on Monday then it's off to the doctors for me.

P.S. At last Blogger now saves your posts automatically, hurray no more lost posts!

The Acronym is RICE.
REST,
ICE,
COMPRESSION,
ELEVATION.

There are two quite good anti-infamatory 'creams' available, Ibuleve which I think you can buy over the counter and Traxam which you may be able to. Ice is given with a pack of frozen peas which I expect you know. Compression is best done with an elastic bandage for normal use and a knee tube for playing. I hope it will soon get better. Love Dr EmBee, Licensed First Aider Bath!!!!!

Ouch Beccy! Hope you can stay off your feet for as long as possible. At least you won, eh? Though a painful victory...

enidd knew creme eggs were nasty things, but she didn't know they believed in attacking tennis players. hope yours goes away quickly!

Thanks Deborah.

Dad, as I typed that post I had me leg elevated with a pack of frozen peas on it. Now I have a bandage on it so you taught me well!

Hellojed, it actually didn't hurt which is why I got such a shock when I saw it.

No Frannie it just looks horrible.

does it hurt?
when do you have to play again?
maybe you should get an external chocolate egg to munch on (while keeping your leg elevated). they could do battle within your body and maybe the chocolate one could overpower the knee one and cure you

worth a shot, anyway.

anything for a cadbury egg

Yikes, I hope it goes away soon! Seems odd that it doesn't hurt, but better for you.

Ouch!!!! I hope it is nothing to be worried about and that it goes away fast!

Is it dark, or milk chocolate?

Sorry about your egg but take advantage of the Dr.'s orders - sit with your feet up all weekend! : )

Ouch! :(

Well, it sounds like it was worth the injury to enjoy the thrills of victory!!!

Sounds like a very bad egg.

I hope it turns out to be nothing!

Ouch! I was thinking RICE too, which just goes to show me that the $5000 I spent on the course for a job I refuse to work at was not entirely wasted.

And since when does blogger automatically save posts?

You've had plenty of advice so I won't add except I'm surprised you got 'Housemaid's Knee - (Pre-Patellar Bursitis') (before you get cross it's a joke)!!!!!

Ouch!I hope it will get better soon. Sounds terribly painful.
Hey, You won, that's fantastic!
Congrats on the win!

I hope that your knee is better soon. Those mystery injuries can be the worst kind as you do not start treatment until something like your egg buddy appears.
Take care and rest up.

Personally I prefer my Cadbury Creme Eggs outside of my body.

But to each their own, I suppose.
