I watch the clock
Tick, tock, tick, tock
I try to write
Not a word in sight.
Why did I say
I'd join in and play
I'm not a poet
And I know it.
18 weeks it's been
Since the first view was seen
And not a Monday I've missed
I want to be on the list.
That Nikki wants an ode
I greeted with forebode
I think you'll agree
That poetry is not for me.

Nikki is is charge of this weeks Fun Monday and challenged us to:
1. Write a short poem. It can be about anything and it doesn't even have to be good.
2. Whip out your crayons, markers, paint, etc. and illustrate your poem (or have your kid, dog or cat do it).
3. Post your poem and illustration on your blog next Monday (uh...duh.)
As you can see there is no illustration but the last few days have been hectic. Saturday evening I rang my mum at 11pm and greeted her with:
Me: 'Hello mum, did I wake you?'
Mum: 'No...'
Me: 'Good, now my leg is all swollen do you thing it could be a blood clot?'
Not a phone call my mum wanted on a Saturday evening but as she used to be a nurse she is the number one person to go to when medical advice is needed. As I had Mollie's party the next day we decided that it was best to get my knee and leg checked out so off I went to Accident and Emergency just after 11pm on a Saturday night.
A&E late on a Saturday night is most definitely not pleasant and I wouldn't recommend it as a way to pass time. There were lots of drunk people, vomit and blood. The staff were so calm and patient and I really admire them. Eventually I was seen at 1am and the doctor I saw is very confident that my egg buddy lump on my knee is a cyst. She took blood to check for infection and I have to go back this morning to have it checked again and maybe have an ultrasound scan. I was home by 1:30am so I got some rest before the all day party, about which I'll post tomorrow.

That was a pretty good effort. I hope the knee is OK. I must admit I was a little concerned when you first wrote about it.
Great effort! Poetry is not my strong point. Hope your visit to the doctor went well.
beccy that was an 'eggsellent' effort I haven't entered this week I do have two little poems started if I can finish one I may join in later.
Hope leg is easier today.
Hi Beccy! I´m surprised you are a big poem writer ;O)!Cool!
Hope that they sort the knee quickly for you Beccy.
It's a bit worrying!
Hope the party was good!
I hope the knee is better soon and that the pain is minimal. Your poem is a fine effort
A7E on a Saturday night can be exquisitely entertaining if you aren't the one covered in blood and vomit.
Sorry to hear about your leg...
But I like the poem!
Your poem was full of feeling. I hope your knee gets well.
Not bad for a "non poet"!!:D
Doctor! Again!!Good luck.
I'm impressed you were able to get something up! I hope your leg feels better soon.
I'm w/Nikki, given your circumstances, impressive you got this done! I thought it was pretty doggone good, and a clever way to handle your reluctance to play along.
Glad it doesn't appear to be a blood clot...that sounds scarier than cyst to me (or am I just medically ignorant). Hope it's resolved soon rather than later and with minimal pain (and no vomit!).
Glad you got your leg checked out - sorry to hear it's a cyst but hopefully that is nothing serious. The poem was cute!
I like the poem--- I don't like the story about you having to go to A&E- that doesn't sound fun at all.
keep us posted about the egg.
How did Mollie's party go?
Wow. I'm so impressed you were able to put forth any poetry effort at all after what you've been through.
And as a former ER nurse, yep, I'll agree; Saturday night is the WORST time to be there!!
I hope you're better soon!
(I'm wishing you a) Good recovery on the knee! - I'm glad it wasn't something very serious - I'm sure it is painful and disturbing! Good poem! - much in the lines of what i was thinking, but could not put into words!
Well, for having a big ugly bump on your knee - you came up with a good poem!!!!
I hope the knee gets taken care of quickly!
That was a great poem - an ode to Fun Monday, and how we all clamor to participate!
Anxious to hear what might be coming out of your knee. It might inspire some poetry after all.
Sorry about your leg, glad you didn't have to spend too long Saturday night!
Great poem, very clever!
Good job on your poem. You did a much better job than me.
I'm glad to hear it's not a clot. I hope your leg gets better soon.
I liked your poem :0). Maybe I can hire you do write my next poem.
Anxiously waiting to hear about your leg.
I know I couldn't write anything resembling a poem - when I was in high school we had to write a poem for senior english...and my best friend wrote mine for me. I think your effort is great!
Glad to hear your doctor visit went well.
LOVE the poem. Hope all is well with the leg and knee. Awaiting your update with (hopefully) clean bill of health!
Great poem considering you have to be more than a little side-tracked with your leg. I hope it feels better soon.
The poet in you is out, definitely.
Keep it up.
I think you did a fabulous job. Way to keep your run on Fun Monday going.
I hope the knee isn't anything serious.
Don't sell yourself short - I got a great big ol' laugh over your poem.
Sorry about the cyst - that should inspire some interesting poetry...
I really liked the poem!! That sucks about the leg though. I hope it's better soon!
About a million times better than my lame effort.
Knee sounds nasty, hope it gets etter quickly.
You sound like a poet to me, dear Beccy. Hope the knee's better soon. Docs are working wonders these days, so keep the faith.
Hey - cool poem!!
Am sorry to hear about your knee. Hope that it's nothing serious!
I thought your poem was good! Much better then i could have come up with!
So glad to hear the egg buddy was not a blood clot that was one of my worries.
I liked your poem.
I hope your leg/knee heals, quickly.
I thought I left a comment first thing this morning ? ? ?
Have you really done every fun monday???
You may be the only one!!!!!
Dear beccy. Tennis is SO bad on knees. My mum had her knee cartlidge (sp?) removed in the 80s (back in the day before arthroscope surgery) and now both her knees are so bad that she can't play tennis anymore except for the occasional hit. :( very sad! So look after that knee!
Still looking for that cute doctor then?
