Wednesday's Woe

I knew it was coming.

I had plenty of warning.

I tried to ignore it.

I tried to pretend that it wouldn't come.

Not to me.

I was wrong.

It started with a tightening in my chest.

Wheezing.

Followed by a cough.

Yesterday afternoon it hit me full on.

Another stinking cold and sore throat.

Dinner had to be easy for everyone else and comfort food for me.

They had baked potatoes.

I had marmite on toast with baked beans.

For those of you who don't know much about my mate marmite click here (well worth checking out the online advert) or read Willowtree's post regarding the black stuff.

I'm off to spend the morning in bed with a book and a box of tissues, got the nice soft ones this time!

Poor baby!

Beccy,
Sorry to hear about you being down and out, although at least you were able to fix some food!
I have never tried marmite, but have wanted to for a long time. I think I might like it, as I tend to like things that others don't.
Cheap tissues are fine for everyday, but when you're using them at insane rates, you need the soft, cushy ones. I finally treated myself to them last time and will never deny myself again!
Take care.

get well wishes to you, missy! I hope you are all better soon!

Thanks Sabrina.

I rang you Mum, where were you?

I don't care about any adverse effect from the beans Erik if it diverts my attention from the tap formerly known as my nose!

Thanks Dad, will do.

Ha, ha, Jenny, a good dose of tar will kill anything I expect.

Enid, I must check the cupboard see if we've any whisky left, I certainly have lemon.

Thanks Asha.

Fatman, the hotter, the thicker, the butteryer the better!

Lisa, you should at least try marmite once, so many people are put off by the look of it and don't give it a chance. Soft, luxury tissues are the only option when your nose is dripping like a tap!

Thanks Barbara and Frannie.

Some mashed 'taters sound more comforting that toast. But whatever you like is best.
Hope you feel better soon.

Good for Randie Tonya.

Thanks Steffi.

Mashed potatoes sound great Joe only I couldn't be bothered to cook them.

Ahh so sweet, thanks Kevin.

Dear beccy, there's nothing like the black stuff (in my case, vegemite of course) when you're feeling poorly. Feel better soon.

Beccy said...

Kila if you try it spread it very thinly, you have been warned!

Thanks Karmyn, I hope you didn't cyber send me the doese!

My4kids, it may not look good but it tastes wonderful.

Aren't you an Aussie Sam, that's unusual to prefer marmite but totally understandable.

We have to agree to differ LMM over which brand comes out tops!

Yes Beccy I am an Aussie, but a pom at heart, well a North Yorkshire girl to be exact.

Beccy said...

Sam, where in Yorkshire? I was at uni in Hull.

Sidetracked Home Executive said...

I was born Norton, North Yorkshire and lived in both Norton and Malton. My mum went to school in Hull, what a small world!

Beccy said...

Small world indeed Sam.

Yuck to the marmite. My mother used to try and convince me it was marmalade.

And the vegemite! William and Saoirse both love it, his family has to send him the giant jars of it, as it is really expensive here. $6 for a teeny tiny jar. Just the smell of it makes me feel sick.

I could go for some beans on toast - I miss that, but keep your Marmite away from me.

Beccy said...

Thanks Sally, I'm feeling much better.

Emma you're English, you should love marmite!!!! Marmite is very expensive here and comes in tiny jars, so mum keeps me supplies with the big jars.

But Mark it's full of yeasty goodness.
