Joules hates to shop. In fact he never shops. He'd be happy with "two socks, two jocks, two t-shirts and a pair of jeans" although I'm not sure how he get them washed and dried each day. So when I buy clothes for him I have to buy them from shops where you can return them if they don't fit or if he doesn't like them. I knew he needed new trousers and had looked recently but the shop only had a young and trendy range (he may be youngish but definitely not trendy) and an old fogies range which I couldn't bear so I came home empty handed.
Yesterday Joules came home wearing new trousers. He been shopping and bought not one, not two but three pairs of trousers (one pair a bargain at €1 in the sale) and was dead pleased with himself. So what happened to turn him into a shopper? He bent over at work, heard a tear and his "arse was hanging out"!

Whoops! Poor Jules there's nothing worse!
Dear beccy. Oh dear, that's a mortal fear of mine. Glad that Joules shopped for himself, it will save you a long and frustrating search! (I know... Mr Moi is very fussy about shopping. It takes ages for him to find something that he likes)...
oops! and i was waiting for the photo! of the new trousers not the ripped ones!
ha! that's incentive.
doug shops online. men's sizes are so much more logical than women's: this many inches around the waist, this many inches for the inseam, can't go wrong.
once or twice a year he gets on the LLBean site and orders a couple of pairs of pants and three shirts and he's done. they always fit.
grrrr.
So now you know how to get him motivated to shop! Just a few strategic snips of the scissors when he's not looking......and wha la! New clothing that YOU didn't have to shop for!
Ooh. Poor Joules! I once had to buy new clothes at work because I discovered (in the women's room) that my skirt was kind of see-through! I sympathize completely!
oh dear poor Joules - embarrassing!
I'm with Laurie why do men's trousers ALWAYS fit but with women's it depends on the shop. Is it just that the designers know women will keep shopping and men will just give up?
And you didn't mend them for him? ttcch!
*ducks*
Bwa ha ha! Yeah, that would motivate anyone, wouldn't it? And pants for 1 euro? Wow!
I just knew that was going to be the reason, I was LOL before I got to the end. Well he did have a bargain so maybe he should shop more often!
ha, ha, ha!!! that is too funny. LOL
he he he he. arse.
There's nothing like having your "arse hanging out" to get a person shopping for new pants!
Although I doubt that would even send Kelly he would just come home and tell me he needs pants.
Ha ha! Poor Joules....did he make good choices with the trousers?...I'd rather be with Kev when he buys clothes....just incase!!!
OMG Beccy how funny! Paul has done that too and he sounds just like Joules in his shopping habits. Men eh? ;-)
Oops! :-)
Mr H is the same, he's happy with very few clothes and is loath to buy new ones, but when he does he often ends up buying more.
Ha ha! That'll teach him. Fred has the opposite affliction to Joules. He is a fantastic shopper. I really can't go in a department store or clothes boutique without him buying half the shop. He also looks so great in clothes which doesn't help. For me - that most things look awful on me is a great deterrent - not so poor fred. At least I always have a well dressed man on my arm.
Poor Joules...funny!My husband hate to go shopping clothes. And when he go alone than it must be all cheap prices.
When he need clothes I must come with him.
OMG Becky, that cracks me up!Poor Joules!! My husband is the exact same way! He's gotten some (what he calls preppy) shorts and tops for his birthday he's never worn. I've stopped shopping for him, because he has to have the right type of shorts, and he's had the same clothing 'air conditioning' problem with holey pants. Glad Joules found some great deals!
That's hilarious!!! The exact same thing happened to a friend of mine...he was at a wedding. Oops.
hee hee - Next time he starts to need new clothes maybe you can help him along and pull a few stitches!
Definitely a blogworthy story!
LOL! Well, at least he took that as a sign to buy new pants vs a patch!
That would tend to make me a shopper too. Too funny!
omg, you Yuropeans are hilarious! Whenever I can, I use the word trousers.
If that had happened to William he would have called me and said "I need new jeans." Even a hole in the bum wouldn't have forced him out.
Hey, I put up a photo of the Old English Cheese if you're still curious. :)
Hilarious! Talk about motivation!!
LOL! Maybe that will teach him?!
Oh I had a giggle at the thought of that. At work too!!!
