An open letter to Mollie

Dear Mollie

I love you very much.

When I have spent the day making up your new bed, finding your lost scout shirt, picking up and throwing away a sack load of rubbish (including numerous tissues) and broken toys, sorting out your clothes and shoes, washing your dirty laundry and sweeping your bedroom floor it would be really nice to receive a thank you not a full blown strop like a toddler tantrum.

I do appreciate that you've been away all weekend, camping in the fresh air, getting lots of exercise and very little sleep but surely a thank you takes a lot less energy than a toddler tantrum.

I'm so glad you woke up in a good mood this morning, I told you an early night would work wonders so maybe you'll believe your mum the next time.

When I clean the girls room, I wonder where ALL the junk comes from.
I could go for a nice Thank you as well. Sometimes I feel invisible in all that I do. I know the feeling.

Beccy, sounds like you've created a clone! Like mother, follows daughter!

Gah.

That's all I can say.

And in honor of my post today, I'll add that my child? Will never act this way.

Izzak was gone from Thursday till Sunday this week he came home about the same way! Yeah I think its the age! I won't make any comment about what your mother said though because my mom would say it also!

mothers aren't always right - for example I saw you had a score of just 3/10 in Willowtree's quiz yesterday.

Dammit there is no fast-forward button for these moments, eh.

Nice to know that I'm not the only one with kids that don't appreciate a darn thing I do. Oh ... the joys of motherhood.

So kids are supposed to appreciate us? :)

Nothing like the good ol' mommy guilt trip! ;)

I can relate. :)

this weekend amanda said -- "I got after the mister for leaving a wet towel on the bed after his shower.. Oh my I sounded just like mom."

Then Karmyn said, "Oh I yell now about wet towels too."

They are both me now.

Mollie has you to emulate. Can you hardly wait?

Kila said...

Yes, you'd think they would know by now that you always know best!

Thanks for all you do! :) She'll appreciate it when she's on her own and then has her own kids.

I sympathize. Where do they get all the crap in their rooms? I found six caramel wrappers on my daughter's bookshelf. She hates caramel, so the culprit was narrowed down to my son, who acted like it was no big deal to have left a mountain of sticky trash there.
