The cost of living...

*Breaking News*

Dublin is the second most expensive place in the world (after Beverley Hills, Los Angeles) to buy an average four bedroom house.

No wonder I'm still stuck in my shoe box!

A Joke for Witty Wednesday

Thanks to John for keeping me laughing with his jokes.

Husband walks into Ann Summers to purchase some see-through lingerie for his wife. He is shown several possibilities that range from £50 to £150 in price.

The more see-through, the higher the price.

He opts for the sheerest item, pays the £150 and takes the lingerie home.

He presents it to his wife and asks her to go upstairs, put it on and model it for him. Upstairs, the wife thinks "I have an idea. It's so see-through that it might as well be nothing. I'll not put it on, do the modelling naked and return it tomorrow and get a £150 refund for myself".

So she appears naked at the top of the stairs and strikes a pose.

The husband says, "Good grief! It wasn't that creased in the shop".

His funeral is this Thursday

But you do have lovely Dublin on your doorstep....... I do hope though that something falls in your lap soon though Beccy, so that you can get the house you want too.....

Lol! Brilliant!

Regarding the house prices, the bubble seems to be finally deflating so I have my fingers crossed that you can get something bigger very soon.

Where did you get your info from? General housing in LA is considered cheap compared to places like New York and San Francisco, however what LA does have is some of the most expensive homes in the world (think Beverley Hills) which doesn't mean to say you can't buy more affordable housing in less glitzy areas. In this cost of living survey on an Irish business website (which includes housing), Dublin ranks 18th.

How much is a four bedroom home in Dublin? In San Francisco four bedroom homes are affordable by only the extremely wealthy and as a consequence, very few families, especially large ones, live in the City, they all have to move out t the suburbs. I don't know anyone at all in SF (and I know a lot of people), who has a place that has more than 2 bedrooms in what is usually a flat, rather than a house. Yes, strange but true, all these professionals, earning moderately decent wages, with no children, and no one can afford to live in anything more than a place with one or two bedrooms.

Dear beccy. Funny joke. These surveys are all a bit skewed - I've seen the one Sam linked, and it says Sydney is more exxy than Kyiv - but in Kyiv, if I want to live in a 'western' style apartment (as opposed to a dump), I have to pay double what I paid in Sydney for an apartment half the size. Yet Sydney is higher on the list

Let's just say that Britain and Ireland, like Australia, went property crazy in the past couple of years and now all the prices seem WAAAAYYY! too inflated! It's just depressing! Hopefully it will flatten out and people's pockets will catch up pretty quickly.

I've heard that same punch line, the story just had a little different wrinkle... (:

(It was an old woman who streaked through the dining hall of the retirement home... and an old man asked "What was she wearing" and his companion said, "I don't know, but it sure needed ironing"

Sorry about the crazy home prices! :(

That joke, very, very funny!

I feel your pain on the housing prices. Every day I remain amazed that I inherited a four-bedroom house in the San Francisco Bay Area and don't have to try and buy one myself! Ack! I almost died just thinking about it! ;)

Bahahaha - funny joke.

Housing is reasonable where I live, but that is because not many people are interested in living in the middle of Blahsville.

Tell me about it! We rented a place in Castleknock for twelve months before we moved here....

Cost us a *loody fortune!

(Chef often tells me my birthday suit could do with ironing)

Why is Dublin so pricey? Crazy - housing is so high everywhere.

Funny joke.

We are lucky enough to live in a 4 bedroom townhouse, but to buy an actual 4 befroom house...not a chance. It'd be over $500,000 I am sure. Though they are starting to drop.

LOL at the joke!

You could buy a 4-bedroom house with a nice yard for about $130,000 here. C'mon over ;)
