Fun Monday #26

Fun Monday has rolled around very quickly this week. I kind of hibernated this weekend with Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, yes I went out at midnight to buy it at the great price of €10.90 (US$15) and started reading straight away. I did take a few breaks on Saturday to spring clean Dillon's room, watch some tennis finals at my tennis club and attend a Hawaiian party at the tennis club where I received some earrings as prizes for a competition. I tried to finish the book on Sunday before the return of Dillon and Mollie but spring cleaning Mollie's room took far to long. I was just reaching the last battle when it was time to go and collect them but managed to finish it whilst they were soaking their weary bodies in the bath.

Today I have to plough through a mountain of washing from the two of them, away for nine days not to mention clothes I found when cleaning their rooms! And I promised Ben I would bake his favourite lemon cake as I had been otherwise occupied most of the weekend so I'm going to cheat with this Fun Monday post.

Willowtree has asked us to write a post about our best friend and I really did plan to but Harry Potter took over time has run out so I am going to link to a post I wrote in April as a guest blogger on Frannie's blog. It tells you of my experience of friendships and about my best friend and you'll find it here.

Now I know what you have been doing over the weekend. I didn't buy a copy of HP even though it was under £9 at Sainsbury's. I wondered if I would get it even cheaper- or I can read yours!!

Great post Beccy, love your writing. I'm the same really - have a small group of friends that I demand total loyalty from, they are fit to be tied at this stage! ;)

I have only had three friends in my life - and they are still here. Everyone else is varying levels of closeness as acquaintances...

I enjoyed reading your post on Frannie's blog. I commiserate about raising a teenage son. The good thing is that the teen years last only 7 years, and the later ones can be much easier than the early years. I am patiently waiting to read Harry after my husband finishes.

My daughter is working her way through HP - I thought she would finish it on Sunday, but I think she is trying to savor it.

I read you post at Frannie's. Very nice. I know what you mean about boys sometimes making better friends than girls

First, thank you for your well wishes. I really enjoyed your post at Frannie's. You hit the nail on the head... I too require loyalty. I do not care to waste my time on ppl that are there one day and not the next. I also agree with you on boys as friends!
I spent close to 18 US dollars on HP... Please no spoilers or at least warn... I won't be getting to it until I have re-read #6. Also that is an attempt to savor!

OK, I'm dying to know what happens in Potter. I haven't read the whole series though - only got through book 3. I think I need to google for spoilers - doesn't someone die?

Cheating or not, that is a very sweet post!!

I'm like you, I have a few very good friends, not a whole bunch of just friends.

Ah, Harry! My daughter and I both sped through it. So what will we do with no more books to look forward to?

I just started reading Frannie's blog not too long ago and really like her too. Great lady for sure. Your post was great and I really enjoyed reading it.

Ohhh, I just got my copy of Harry Potter. My husband is going to read it first since he's such a fast reader. As for me, I take a little longer. I can't wait to dig into it.

I'm like you Beccy I like loyalty in friends I find it easier to have that with only a close group of close friends I feel I can count on.

I'm still going on the harry potter thing too.
Enjoyed your linked post, it sounded like something I could have written myself. Well, if I was a better writer!

I'll admit, I stopped reading your post when you mentioned Harry Potter, and I haven't read any of the comments, I'm so afraid someone will post a spoiler and it'll be ruined...but I did go read your friendship post over at Frannie's blog, and it was a beautiful post!

I went to Frannie's. What a beautiful guest post. I agree about the emotions involved as we get involved in the lives of the people we blog with. I have been blogging for a month and a half (reading before on Sirdar's blog) and feel connected with people already.

Great post, Beccy!
My friends were (except one) boys for about a ten year period.
Nice about your blogging friends, I feel the same about mine.

wished i'd had HP in car with me during floods - hope your people back here not swimming. Have since read it though. and am not sure I'm entirely satisfied. may have to give it another go at less than 100 mph!

My eldest got HP as a gift from a friend of mine (I mind her little boy) I might even read the whole series some day...

The sun is shining here, too. I'm sitting by the open kitchen doors blog-hopping. Must get dressed and go to the park before it rains!

Dont forget to do the Lotto!
