Holidays

It's been a long, long week. In France we rarely went to bed before midnight (children included) and slept until 10am so to come home and have to be up for school has been really tough. Thankfully since 12noon today the summer holidays have begun-yey, I love the summer. Hopefully it will be a hot one and we'll have plenty of picnics and beach trips to look forward to.

So were the teachers okay with the kids missing that much school? Did they have lots of work to take with them??

PS) the flapjacks turned out lovely!! thanks so much for the recipe.

Dear beccy. Gosh, lazy ukrainians broke up almost a month ago! I've had school holiday pedestrian traffic for that long grrr... too many pimped up 12 year olds out on the street.

Ok, I am a teacher in the U.S. Our schools generally let out at the end of May and the students return in mid-August. When will your children go back to school? Just curious! :)

Marmite Breath, our principle lets her children out of school to sail (her eldest daughter now sails for Ireland) so she can't really say anything. Children are allowed to miss 20 days of school a year without comment after that the department of education gets involved. Due to public holidays and school closures Mollie and Ben missed 14 school days whilst in france. Mollie missed an addional five days due to sickness and Ben missed two so they won't get reported!

As Ben is only six he missed very little and I made sure he did lots of reading. Mollie missed her tests but she'll be around for them next year as this trip was a one off.

John, I'm insulted, you should see my moves!

I know Sally I keep reminding mine how short my holidays were.

How long do they get off LMM?

Only two weeks to go Steffi!

AS, Secondary school children finish at the end of May and go back at the end of August so they have a three month holiday (aged 12/13-18/19).

Primary school children (age 4/5-12/13)finish the end of June and return beginning September so they only get two months.

This is very different to the UK, I only got five and a half weeks when I was a school child in England.
