A delicious surprise

I was so glad I hadn't had time to eat my healthy breakfast of homemade muesli when the postman came knocking at the door with a parcel.

This is what I found inside.

And this was my breakfast.

Thanks mum!

Nice one! Does it taste very different to the original? I can't stand it myself but the bf can't get enough of it.

ok, will someone please tell me what the heck marmite is? i keep hearing about it but i don't think i've ever had any.

though i have to say, anything with guinness in it automatically sounds good....

Score!

I'm thinking of putting whiskey in my Vegemite. My dad used to drink rum and bonox all the time.

Isn't the whole point of these booze-infused spreads that you can get plastered without arousing any suspicion? :)
Now, some Vodka Chocolate spread might be rather more interesting...

Willow tree I had to google 'bonox' and I think that might be similar to our 'bovril'

As Saoirse would say..."EWWW...that is nasty!"

I wish I had a side of that with my breakfast - leftover queso and chips from last night!

Since I've never had marmite, I can't say that I can understand your glee... But I love it when you document your life in pictures, so thanks for sharing! :)

What a sweet mum you have beccy!

I've never heard of Marmite either. I'm guessing it's like marmelade, but not quite.

Whatever it is, it looks real tasty.

My breakfast today was a cup of coffee.
Nice surprise of your mom to send you a breakfast-parcel!

I haven't opened mine yet! Too busy with the move.
But I want to get one thing absolutely right: Butter first, then a teeny, tiny thin scraping of Marmite?
OK, got it.

So what does it taste like with the Guinness? Is it more bitter?

I noticed my local suburban Texas grocery store was selling Marmite when I was there today. No Guinness flavor, though. . .I didn't have the guts to try it yet! Maybe in the next round of marmite-mentioning I'll give it a go!

Chris, yes it's the same as Bovril.

Hey Beccy, what do you think a good way to show your appreciation would be?
Hint: It's not taunting her with chocolates.

Beccy said...

for all of you who asked, it does taste different but only slightly and not really bitter.

Willowtree I did offer her a chocolate but she refused!
