Easter afternoon was spent at my in-laws and as the weather has been so good we decided to have a picnic in their garden. Joules' parents live in the countryside with wonderful views of the Wicklow mountains and the sea. They also have a meadow which was the ideal place for our picnic. Not all the family were there just my in-laws, us and Joules brother and his family. Hannah (who came to stay with us recently) is in the green coat and baby Ruth can be spotted sitting on her mothers lap, her legs are plastered in that shape. I volunteered to bring the dessert and made the pavlova topped with summer fruit and Mollie made the nests and fairy cakes. The little wooden truck was great for transporting everything to and from the house and the children had great fun having rides on it.

Dear beccy. The pav looks delish but those cupcakes are, for want of a better word (and evidence I've been reading too many classic novels lately), 'darling'. Great piccies! Glad you had a fun easter.
I love your idea of putting the photos into a collage. Looks like you all had a great Easter. (The food looks amazing!)
Beccy this is so lovely. Mollie has green crocs what happened to 'purple' I thought I was buying those for her? tell her they are lovely. Love the picture of Ben in hat. That reminds me of the ones I have of Dillon when he was dressing up in my hats and shoes they look so alike. Nice to see Simon relaxing!! Glad you all had a good time.
The photo collage is absolutely gorgeous. Really shows what a great Easter you've had.
it looks like a perfect day! Mollie's cupcakes are too cute. she's turning out like her mum!
WOW!! Warm enough to sit outside and enjoy!!Good for you!:))
We had temp in the 50s!!The food there looks yummy!
Beccy,
Wow, what a beautiful day, and spread. Looks like you all had a great day.
Just curious, what's the difference between cupcakes and fairy cakes? I've seen them in a lot of British books, and can't figure it out.
LMM, Mollie was very proud of her fairy cakes.
Hellojed, the collage is a good way to show lots of pictures.
Mum, the crocs are Mollies Sandals for this summer!
Thanks Blueangel and welcome.
Frannie, she made all without me and was very proud of them. You should have seen the table after she iced them!
It was a beautiful day Asha. Unfortunately we forgot to take pictures of all the savoury food.
Lisa I don't think there is much of a difference between cupcakes and fairy cakes. If I recall correctly a cupcake has butter icing (frosting) on it and a fairy cake has glace icing on it which I prefer. Here in Ireland they call them all buns which is in fact what I would call something like a hot cross bun so in my house we stick with fairy cakes. Hope that clears up the confusion.
Fantastic pictures of a fantastic family!I think you had a wonderful day and nice weather. Our weather here over the easterdays was not so sunny- much grey sky and windy!
To continue to the cupcake and fairy cake convo... In Australia we call them patty cakes. I have no idea why I called them cupcakes in my comment - I don't think I ever have before!
Gosh, I haven't had Pavlova since my return from Australia - It looks delicious!! It looks like it was a wonderful outing. (Wish we had green grass instead of snow!)
Excellent post, so glad the weather was good, it's been lovely here as well.
Oh Beccy! Those pictures look like something from Sense and Sensibility! Absolutely breathless!
How fun!
what a wonderful setting, and the food looks so pretty! love your photo collage, great green crocs :)
ben posing on the chair is cracking me up.
Summer fruits? It's only just Spring.
Okay - I mean this with the utmost respect and admiration of those pictures.
This photo collage looks like something that could have come out of the Martha Stewart Magazine. It is THAT good!!!
(I especially like the barbed wire one)
(some people don't like being compared with Martha Stewart stuff)
Steffi. apparently it was hotter here than in Spain.
LMM you've been reading too amny US blogs! I've never heard them called patty cakes before.
Wendy, at least you get snow, we just get cold and rain in the winter.
I only hope it lasts John.
Thanks catwoman unfortunately I can't take credit for the pictures as Dillon took most of them.
Elena Jane, Mollie loves her new crocs.
Sam, the strawberries were Irish and it tasted delicious. Summer actually starts a month earlier in Ireland!
Karmyn, I don't know a lot about Martha Stewart so I don't know whether to be flattered or offended. My in-laws bought the house because of the grounds and the view. As for the photos, I gave Dillon the camera so he took most of them. He loves taking photographs and is very artistic, if I'd been in charge of the camera there would be no barbed wire shot!
Wow that's a big garden. Great pav and fairy cakes. Mollie should enter them in this months Sugar High Friday.
The pavlova looks scrumptious!
Your neice, is she in casts? Is that why you say she is plastered that way? Joshua was in casts like that at 6 months in the middle of summer once I feel for your sister in law if that is what you mean, hard to carry.
The pictures are great! I still want to know how you make your collages!
heard about Pavlova for the first time over at Willowtrees.
Must be very popular
Martha Stewart is and was a very astute business woman and fantastic organizer of all things house/garden
She made a stupid mistake with her financial advisor and got crucified. I've seen so much worse out there.
Be flattered
Barbara, they have a fantastic garden. They often joke that they got it 20 years to late as they has a postage stamp of a garden when their four children were small and living at home.
Terri, Ruth is in a plaster cast for hip displsia. She will be in the cast for six months, throughout the summer and is very heavy.
As for the collage, if you download picasa2 you just select the photos and click collage then hey presto a collage you can then send to your blog. It really is that easy.
Pamela you should get you hubby to make pavlova for you, it is very easy and very yummy. Complimented I am then.
Lovely pictures Beccy!
Gorgeous collage.
Everything looks so green. My favorite pics are the Easter tree, and that tart is it made of meringue?
Glad you had such a wonderful EAster.
Thats what I thought about the casting..My brother in law had to wear one but his problem wasn't cought until he was 6 and having a six year old in a half body cast I'm sure was no fun for no one!
I can beleive the cast is heavy, I remember Joshua's it was a nightmare to carry him and changing was a whole different story!
I'm just groaning at how delicious the pavlova looks. I mean, how come I don't have any right this minute? Life is unfair!
