Celebrating England and Englishness

After spending yesterday trawling through lots of good hair days and not too many bad hair days I think that those of us who made complete asses of ourselves embraced the challenge deserve a special award.

Many of you may have realised that yesterday was St Georges Day, (I did mean to write this yesterday but was suffering from extreme mortification after realising that I was one of a few to post such embarrassing photographs). So back to St George the patron saint of England, he who was a knight in shinning armour, who slayed a dragon and was so popular that he is also the patron saint of Canada, Catalonia, Ethiopia, Georgia, Greece, Montenegro, Portugal and Serbia. Unlike here in Ireland, where the country comes to a virtual standstill whilst the good folk spend a week celebrating St. Patrick the English do not have a bank holiday, or parades to celebrate the Roman man who (in legend) killed a Dragon. In recent years the English have started to mark this day and my sister choose to mark it yesterday by proving that English food is not a joke. If you want to drool over the computer at lots of wonderful English dishes from the simple to the sublime then go and check this out.

Beccy,

Happy belated St Georges day!
We seem to lose holidays more then gain them. Work wise anyway. We seem to be losing days off but the kids gain days off for everything.

i only hd to perk it up because it was garbage soup - we only had a few tiny little chciken bones not the whole carcass which is why it needed some zing
