Better late than never...

Tuesday was Shrove Tuesday and I had planned to make blinis for Joules and Dillon, (Mollie and Ben don't like pancakes). Unfortunately I didn't have all the ingredients as I hadn't checked the recipe. So Tuesday saw us eat lots of pancakes lavishly sprinkled with lemon juice and sugar and yesterday I made the blinis topped with creme freche, raspberries and blueberries.

Thanks Steffi, they were delicious.

I think I'd prefer them with cream to creme freche Mum, the fruit was the best bit!

Enid I used a recipe from The Sunday Times magazine, it you want to email me at beccy1@gofree.indigo.ie I will email you the recipe I used.

considering I'm drinking a coke for breakfast, that would be heaven! you feel like adopting a 32 year old with her own kid?

It's funny - I was having a conversation with a Russian over blinis just on Friday evening. According to him, what most of us think are blinis are not blinins at all. He tells me the Russians make blinis big like pancakes, not small like I always thought they were meant to be.

I have to say, I always also thought blinis had savoury toppings like caviar and smoked salmon. I have never seen anyone do a sweet blini before. I wouldnt say no to one for breakfast.

Dear beccy. Certainly far more appetising than anything I've seen here, and I'm only just east of blini-land. Can you beam me some over?

YUM!!!

That depends Frannie, can you wash up and do you mind sleeping under the stairs?

Sam, Joules made a big one with some of the batter, because they are denser I think smaller suits them. The recipes I got were for sweet blinis, I was going to make the raspberry and vodka sauce but didn't get round to it.

Consider some beamed little miss moi.

Thanks my4kids, Matt and Karmyn.

on the size thing, in molvania enid's had blinis of various dimensions (in all directions - diameter and thickness). you don't get the cocktail size of blini very often at all, but they are usually smaller than the normal british pancake or french crepe. more like side plate sized.

enid makes them small, because she likes to nibble them with crimean champagne.

YUMMY! i know nothing of blinis so i'm interested in this recipe too if you're sharing :)
i like english pancakes, the only crepes i've had were covered in chocolate and eaten on a parisian corner on a freezing march day!

Enid, Beccy wonders what crimean champagne tastes like, she quite fancies trying it.

Elena Jane if you send me an email I will send you the recipe.

Beccy,

Wow....they look wonderful! MY kind of breakfast!!!

Certainly different to our usual breakfast Robin.

beccy, crimean champagne is very good value for about £1 a bottle. stick to the brut (the sweet stuff is really sickly) and it's not at all bad, for the price anyway.

Beccy likes the sound of the crimean champagne but more than that Enid she likes the price!
