Fancy a Cuppa

Christmas is the time of year when we keep secrets. I've been very busy today getting started on my Christmas gifts but alas can not share them with you! I can share my new purchase for the kitchen. I was thrilled when my kettle broke as it was getting old and grotty looking. I'd seen a kettle I liked and when I went to buy it I fell in love with this.

No Sam but it matches the toaster and sits next to the toaster. Anyway nothing in my kitchen matches anything else!

Are you sure your kettle didn't get broken accidentally on purpose!! It's very pretty anyway and you were looking kettles when I visited.

Thanks Asha, Barbara and Emma.

No Mum it's a bit close to Christmas, anyway that would have happened ages ago .

Gorgeous!! i thought about you last night Beccy. I made a stew and as we have a breadmaker we always make out own bread and rarely run out. However, last night I had run out, and being abit stubborn, rather than buying some, I msade some soda bread to go with the stew. I used a recipe that one of my daughters had given me from school. However, it tasted nothing like real soda bread, but more like a scone. Do you have a good recipe please, and what flour do you use, if indeed you ever make it?

I suppose that there are people who would say a kettle is a kettle is a kettle, but more and more I see colours creeping in to the kitchen and indeed Christine is agonising over whether to buy a blue pan or a black pan. So I agree, enjoy, it looks good to me if it cleans alright. Love.

It's beautiful!
As for matching the Kitchen Aid... Well, the kettle at my house is speckled a nice, burnt-grease brown. It matches the inside of my oven. :-P

Sally I'm delighted you thought of me whilst cooking last night. I hate to shatter any illusions you may have of me but I've never baked Irish soda bread, and never will as I don't like it! If I come across a recipe I'll send it to you.

I agree dad but when you spend as much time in a kitchen as I do it's nice to look at something of beauty not some old thing. However I also agree that if mum is buying a pan to keep in her cupboard when not cooking then colour is irrelevent but i am not mum and don't go for matching everything.

Hey cookiecrumb I should have sent my old kettle over to match your kettle and oven!!!

That is the most beautiful kettle I have ever seen! Where did you find something like that?

Thanks Maya, I found it in Powercity, the place us odinary folk go to buy our basics. I couldn't believe something so nice could be got there at a reasonable price.

So you don't like Soda Bread?!

Oh Well...........

I agree that it's not something you would want every day - too heavy, but every so often, with a good stew, or as a bacon soda..........

tis good!!

And no you haven't shattered any illusions! I just thought i'd ask!!
