The Wanderer Returns

I'm back but not yet recovered from my flying visit to Bristol. I had to get up at 4am on Tuesday morning to catch my flight over and I got home at midnight on Wednesday evening. I managed to squeeze in a lot in my short time, that shopping trip where I bought a dress, cardigan and gorgeous boots for the winter as well as lots of craft goodies to start making birthday and Christmas cards. I ate out both nights I was in Bristol which was a real treat for me, drank champagne, bathed in natural spring water and spent some precious hours with Sam. I just wish I could have stayed longer.

Just before I left I was delighted to receive my book swap books from the Anglophile Football Fanatic, she sent me two very different books which I have never read so I'm looking forward to getting them started as well as a magnet to join the collection on my fridge. Many thanks to Emma for organising the swap.

If you want a good read...

Those of you who do not know me other than through this blog will be unaware that I am in a book club. I joined the book club nearly three years ago after talking to a friend about a book I was struggling to get into, Atonement by Ian McEwan She encouraged me to persevere which I did and ended up really enjoying the book, she then invited me to join the club. I was nervous at first, what if I had nothing interesting to say; what if they were all super intelligent; should I make notes on the books; would I be out of my league. I need not have worried because the book club is made up of a lovely bunch of girls who want to read more and/or different books to those they would usually choose. We meet every 4-5 weeks in someones house and the host selects the next book.

We read The boy in the striped pyjamas this summer and everyone enjoyed(?) it. It is a short book, easy to read and the simplicity of the writing succeeds in making the story more horrific in its outcome. I don't want to spoil it for you so will say no more except if you enjoy reading I really recommend this book.
