Oggy, Oggy, Oggy, Oi, Oi, Oi

Last night was spent trying to pack nine days of clothes for the Irish weather, which includes shorts, sun cream, trousers, rain gear and jumpers , as well as a sleeping bag, sleeping mat, wash gear, insect repellant and plate, bowl, cup, knife, fork and spoon into one rucksack. Twice. Lucky Dillon and Mollie left this morning at 9.30am with their Scout Troop for their summer camp at Gartan Outdoor Education Centre Donegal. Their nine days will be spent sailing, raft building, kayaking, wind surfing, rock climbing, abseiling, hiking, gorge walking, orienteering and hill walking. All food will be cooked on an open fire and evenings will be spent around the campfire singing. Dillon is one of the oldest scouts (and a patrol leader), Mollie is the youngest (she should still be in cubs but they needed more girls in scouts and asked her to move up early, she was thrilled and jumped at the chance to go).

Of course I'll miss them but I know that they'll be having a great time and Ben and I have our own trip planned to visit someone special.

Returning the visit, great minds at all that ;-)

I'm glad they got off OK and they will have a fantastic time even if they loose their kit, get very dirty and come home worn out and ready for another holiday!! I'm looking forward to seeing you and Ben, but it will seem strange without the others.

what gorgeous healthy kids you have!
and donegal--lucky them! even in the rain, it's my favorite place in the whole world.

I meant to say Mollie looks very different with her hair like that. Much more like Dillon!

Lbm, I know, I wish I was going!

DQ welcome and thanks.

Mum, Ben is so excited but want to know why we can't come for longer and why we tell them we made a mistake with our tickets!

Laurie, this is Dillon's second trip to Donegal and I've never been.

Sounds like a great trip. And it's always nice when one of them can have some alone time with their parents. And grandparents, too.

Definite lifetime memories to be made :). And not just for the "big kids", for you and Ben, too. It'll seem quiet without them.......and they'll look older when they return.

Hope they have a good time. We just got back from a quick 24 hour camping trip with our Girl Scout troop. I am wiped out. I can't imagine it for nine days. The raccoons scare me to death!

Emma, I'm looking forward to that. Ben seems to have spent his life trawling around after the others so this is his treat.

Holler I'm told it either rains or is glorious in Donegal, with the rain coming more often.

Steffi, I agree it looks great fun.

Robin, I'm not sure I want Mollie to look older, she's growing up fast enough.

Thanks Barbara.

So do I Swampy.

Marmite Breath, luckily there are no raccoons here!

Pamela Dillon tells me he'd cook at home if we had an open fire for him to cook on, (the gas hob is just not the same)!

Terri we're really looking forward to it.
