Fun Monday this week is hosted by Tiggerlane and she set the following task:
I wanna see your CAR! It can be your current car, the first car you ever had, maybe your first new car with that new-car smell, a car you wrecked once, or even the dream car you would drive - given all the money in the world! Oh - and if you have a truck, SUV, lawnmower, whatever the local authorities allow you to drive, let's see it!
Although this isn't a picture of my first car it pretty much looks like it. Same model and colour. It was my all time favourite car, a Morris 1100. I got it when I was 17 years old and it was seven months older than me. I took my driving lessons in it. I passed my driving test in it (first time). I drove it the 230 miles to Hull regularly when I was at university. It never let me down...well it did a few times but I was a member of the AA so it didn't matter. It was in amazing condition as it had belonged to my grandmother who had bought it new but not used it much. I loved the speedometer which was a red line that went up and down much like a thermometer. If you want to learn more about the Morris 1100 the technical bit can be found here. As the car was a 1969 model it didn't have any seat belts in the back and they couldn't be fitted so it was with great sadness that I had to sell in in 1994, after eight glorious years together , as I needed a car with seat belts because I was now a mother.
I'm off to Bristol, England in 10 minutes so I'll be checking out everyones cars from there (if mum allows me on her new computer)!

Wow! That's the coolest car ever. I don't think I've ever seen one. So sad that you had to get rid of it!
see you soon xx
Blimey, a bit more stylish that the clapped out Astra we had...
Sorry, that was me who deleted the post, the typo was so bad it mad no sense at all.
Anyway, as I was saying...I had a white 1100 and a light green Austin 1800, both were unreliable and died in wet weather (I think it was because of the east-west engine, the distributor was right behind the grille).
That's such a fab car, and lovely that it was your gran's first.
Very neat car!
Oooh, what a cute car!
Have fun in Bristol. My lovely friend Tobes went to school in Bristol. I have received many a letter written from there.
Looks like it was a great car, sounds like you miss it!
Wow, that is a great car lasting for 25 years and providing good service to boot. That is the best kind of car. Have a great visit with your mum.

Min, I was very sad. My current car is not worth blogging about (boring and practical).
I'm seeing you now mum!
Thanks Mr X, stylish like me!
Willowtree they sound cool. Mine was pretty reliable although I was always topping up the oil and water!
Thanks Hannah, it was special.
Thanks Robinella.
Marmite Breath, Bristol's a great place although it's only a flying visit.
I do Lisa.
MJD my dad saw it a few years later being pushed down a road. I often wonder whether it's still 'alive'.
Thanks Frannie, I will.com
The Other Bear, thanks I have great memories (but not many pictures).
Asha, I was thrilled to pass first time.
Love your car. We don't have one here as we take cabs - cheaper and it's like having a driver.
Great car, but a great story to go with it!
I wanna see a speedometer like that! I never have! :)
That´s a cool and cute car,Beccy!
What a cute car!!!!!
What a great car, and a great first car story. I miss my first car too. :)
Wow that is such a cool looking car!
That is such a cool looking car, makes me want to move across the pond!!
How cool is that car! I can just imagine how sad it was to get rid of it!
What an incredibly unique and interesting car.
I had to change my idea of the "ideal" car as soon as I became a mom. Can't really strap a baby into a two-seater.
Really cool car Beccy!
Have a fun visit with your mum!
Happy Monday!
What a great car...they just don't build them like that anymore!
I love cars of character - and your Morris certainly had that!!!!
Beccy, don't you wish you had pictures of it? This Fun Monday was a good exercise in motivating me to take pictures of my kids and their first cars. I had to scrounge to find the one picture with my car in it :/.
Your car looks interesting, I had never heard of it before.
Have a great trip!
Nice car!
Hope you're enjoying England, just came back from there myself.
That looks like a very cool car. I would love to have one.
It is so cool that your grandmother gave you her car!
I enjoyed the post!
Hope you're having fun with your mom...the two of you are making me crazier...I don't know who's what, or what's who. Great car, by the way.
Is that the Harry Potter car?
AWESOME!
Have a great Monday!
Interesting Car! Have a good visit!
What a neat first car, I really like it! Sounds like it served you well. (Mine didn't even get me 25 weeks before it decided to commit suicide)
Cool car :) Has a little more character than most cars over here.
AA? you mean alcoholics anonymous?
ha ha ha... assuming you mean Auto Assn.
cute little car. I had a very hot car (I mean a real muscle car) which I had to sell because it had NO back seat and I was also a mother. Guys would pull up beside me at a stop light and rev their engine - and I would leave them in the dust.
(Dust, seems like there's a never ending source around here.)
very cool car with great character.
i wish I'd entered this since there really are real photos of my first car in existence. to bad i have a food blog and not a car blog.
Btw I loved your car when you let me borrow it, remember?
Cool car! The speedometer thingy sounds pretty cool also!
hey now that is one neat car!!
I once run a similar car belonging to my cousin. The whole family used that car which was so reliable. But we all started with a mini with which we had our driving licence - easier with a small car. It's funny when I recall how we overloaded it all the time.
My first car was a mini 1000 (morris or austin, I can't remember - but that doesn't make any difference). I bought it out of frustration. I was stranded in a wedding when my brother turned up very late to pick us. As soon as I was back home I went straight to a car broker and had an old mini a little before midnight.
Now I've changed for Japanese, more popular here. Currently a Toyota Startlet; and in a couple of weeks hopefully it'll be a Honda Fit (Jazz), not new, second-hand import from japan.
oh what a cool car...i love english cars. they are so very OLD black and white movies and popcorn (lol, that's good btw) :-)
that is such a neat car! Reminds me of the magic car in Harry Potter. I've got Harry Potter on the brain though.
AA? Is that the same as our AAA? Must be.
I just love those old cars! And thank you so much for telling me about the Citroen! No wonder I couldn't find any pictures!!!!
what a cool car, beccy. pity it had to go.
Great car! First time?
Took me three goes.
What an awesome looking car!!!
