An open letter to Marks and Spencer.

Dear Marks and Spencer

I was very excited to find myself invited on a three week holiday in France with my husbands family. The old farmhouse we were staying in was beautiful and had a big pool to lounge by. Just one tiny, weeny thing worried me a little, all my in-laws are tall, skinny and gorgeous so I was on a mission to find the perfect swimsuit. I started my mission back in February, I scoured all the shops and looked on the internet but found nothing. A month before I went I found a black costume that 'would do,' I wasn't happy with it but it was better than nothing, (seriously it was)!

Then two days before I departed for France I stumbled upon it, the perfect swimsuit in chocolate brown. I almost didn't try it on because it had padded breasts and I don't do padded breasts because my breasts don't need any padding and I always felt padded breasts were for older people (I think I'm still 21). Thankfully my friend Sally persuaded me to try it on and I looked drop dead gorgeous ok in it. I was so pleased I grabbed a matching sarong to go with it and with a hop, skip and a jump off I went on my holiday.

That first day at the pool I felt great, I knew it suited me. When I dived in everything stayed in place. I washed the costume out ready for the next day.

The next day we were off for a swim and I pulled my swimming costume back on and quickly checked in the mirror that I looked ok. I didn't look ok so I looked closely. Why was one breast all pointy and weird looking? After further investigation I discovered the padding had got all folded and however hard we tried it was not budging. So one breast was rounded and smooth and breast like whilst the other was half round, with bits sticking out and a huge square like point where a nipple should be. Joules tried to suggest that I could wear it and no one would notice but I am not that stupid. So my gorgeous, sexy, brown costume had to be put away and my old raggedy spare suit (which didn't match with the brown sarong) was dragged out of the bottom of the case (thankfully I had packed it) and worn daily.

I was very disappointed because I have bought lots of thing from your store and they are always well made. I will be visiting you next week to return the swimming costume for a full refund and if you'd like to offer me a free holiday to get over my disappointment I will graciously accept.

Yours sincerely

Beccy Breach.

beccy that's so disappointing hope you managed to get a photo of you in it on the first day! You are up early for a Sat morning. I am off to the hairdressers soon hope we can chat later.

OH NO Beccy! That's awful! We're leaving for Mallorca on Tuesday and I've the same swimsuit dilemna! I have one of those that sucks you in... but I'd rather just not wear one at all! I mean be clothed, not naked! LOL! Anyways, I received some very good advice from a friend recently. She told me to find the fattest person on the beach/pool and flop down next to them and I'll feel fine! ;-)

Next do fabulous swimsuits, the 2 pieces are good too! And they have body shaping swimsuits that make you look perfect, well almost!

Ah no Beccy! That's not fair. I would have been seething - good luck with the refund.

actually pretty funny story, beccy, though unfortunate. it made me chuckle. i remember reading somewhere that women's swimsuits are rarely made to get wet, so go figure.

deborah, when i see you lying on the towel next to me i'll know it's time to lay off the chips 'n' salsa....

So, you're trying to do a half imitation of Madonna?

Dear beccy. I hate it when a brand that you trust lets you down. I hope they're apologetic when you visit them in the store.

Oh man that would be bad! That is like a man though to say no one would notice. the point is you would be noticing it all day which probably would end up bringing more attention to it.
Hopey they give you your refund!

Man. That's terrible! I hate it when stuff like that happens - I had a similar problem last summer in Maui - I ended up spending more $$ on another suit there.

Hey Beccy, thanks for the link! It really put a spring in my step. Oh yeah, too bad about that whole folded breast thing.

If it's any consolation, the sock I wear down my pants to impress the ladies got all out of shape the other day too.

That is disappointing Beccy. But perhapsa good excuse to buy another one while you were in France. I wonder if travel insurance would cover it!

I hope that was the worst thing to happen on the trip! That stinks, it's so hard to find a good suit.

I laughed my hiney off at Joules trying to convince you that no one would notice! How hysterical! I'm so sorry though... How disappointing for you! :(

They better make it up to you, that's for sure!

Oh dear. I think I've probably had that exact same experience. Bathing suits are so tricky. I hope you end up with livable solution.
