Who'd vote for crooks?

Apparently the people of Ireland don't mind having a crook as their leader. I can't believe that Bertie Ahern has been voted in again after all his dodgy dealings which have come to light over the last year. If you want to read more about the result check here, but be warned this guy is funny yet not for the faint heated, his language is obscene and could cause offence. Guess what, the Minister for Education who gave funds to our school (and others) in the days before the election, she was voted back in as well...what a surprise...NOT.

Yesterday I asked if you could guess where we'd been before our trip to the waterfall. I think I misphrased this as many of you said the playground which is within the grounds of Powerscourt Waterfall and I had mentioned being there. No, the clue was in the photographs and Mum guessed it without knowing as she mentioned Ben's haircut but she missed Mollie's new bob. Mollie had about 3-4 inches cut off as she doesn't want to tie her hair up for school.

Elections never surprise me anymore. They reelected our Governer last year and he didn't get anything donethe four years prior he ran his whole campaign on his ideas from the first election and that maybe he could actually do them if reelected....I really detest politics though!
Molly's hair is cute thats just a little longer then I get Madisons cut.

I am not sure I think you should be surprised. we have dodgy politicians here who put on taxes that they certainly do not have a mandate for and vote to hide their own financial misdeeds.
Chavez has just shut a TV station because it broadcasts his misdeeds. The bloke in france is the centre of a storm concerning bank accounts. Burma has the main Politician of the opposition under house arrest. Pakistan is haveing its own problems with half a dozen of theirs. Seems a pretty rotten game to me. Love.

People get the government they deserve, not necessarily the best qualified.

Here people vote not according to the qualities of candidates, not for a programme either, but to the emotions for people of particular ethnic groups. You may be a crook, if you are in the group, you'll pass the post.

That's politics Beccy. It goes beyond the reasoning of people like you and me, and many others who use their brains before they put their cross.

I even noticed Mollie's hair! I pointed it out to hubby at how cute it looked! I can't believe that I didn't put that together. I'm so stupid!

We seem to have no problem electing scalawags here in the US. However, as bad as they might be, they are not despots nor dictators. You what they say about power, "Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely."

The waterfall park looks like a fun as well as beautiful place.

Our political campaigns in the USA usually turn into ugly mud-slinging between the candidates instead of focusing on more important isssues. I vote, but I don't take politics too seriously anymore. They all promise things that they don't make good on until it's time for re-election.

most politicians couldn't hold down a regular job.

Ach, I love Twenty Major. Can't believe he won again. Off the topic, I do enjoy his daughter's books, except for that one about the invisible fella. That was rubbish.

I know Beccy - I can't believe it either. WHAT were people thinking? If everyone except Sinn Fein forma coalition, they would have one more seat than FF... why isn't Enda on that? :-)

Mollie's hair is adorable!!! ;-)

Hey Beccy, I love Ben's widow's peak! We had a person in jail running for office in Minnesota (For auditor of some kind I think. Thank goodness he did not win!!)

Politics seems to be the same everywhere. Most days I'd rather not think about it...it's a little depressing.
