Today is Mothering Sunday which is a day that originally celebrated all women not just mothers. People all over the UK returned to their 'Mother Church' and this was often the only day in a year that a family was together. All the women in church were given a flower on this day hence the tradition of giving flowers on Mother's Day, as it has now become more commercially known. Unfortunately I can't be with the women in my family, my mum (pictured above), sister or granny as we all live in different countries but they are in my thoughts today. I will be having a busy day though, we are going out to lunch to celebrate Dillon's impending birthday and if the weather remains dry, this evening we will head into Dublin Quays to watch the St Patrick's Day Skyfest. Whatever you're doing today maybe you can celebrate the women in your life and not reserve it just for mothers!

Happy Mothering Sunday to you!
happy mothering day to you beccy!! hope you are enjoying your day out :)
Happy Mother's Day and to your Mum too wherever she is!! I'mnot a Mum, but will celebrate by appreciating my dog's and cats' attention! In the US Mother's day is in May
I'm all for celebrating Mamas whenever we can!! They work so hard and deserve lots and lots of attention.
What a wonderful tradition - knowing where the name Mother's Day comes from originally. We celebrate this in May in the U.S. (Father's day is in June)
I hope you got loads of flowers from your little ones.
Beautifully written!
Happy Mothering Sunday to you!
Thank you everyone for your kind words. I've had a lovely day, eaten lots and drunk more!
Have a wonderful day. We celebrate in May.
Happy Mothering day Beccy. Sorry your and your family are so far apart.
Hi Beccy
Thanks for stopping by my blog. Yours looks great.... nice St. Patty's Day pictures. It is obviously much more celebrated there than it is here in Canada.... I saw someone else mention
'mothering Sunday' on their blog. We have 'Mother's Day' the first Sunday in May and 'Father's Day' the first Sunday in June... Are those celebrated in Ireland? My family originally comes from the British Isles... My great grandfather came over when he was a young man (as well as his parents, etc)...so we've been here for about 5 generations. One of these years I'd like to get over there and explore our roots.. find the descendants of our common ancestors if possible..Anyway thanks for the visit and the comment... Hope you're having a nice weekend. Our kids are on spring break from school for 2 weeks.... how about your?
well take care
Heather
Awww...great post. Sorry you weren't able to be with the women in your family.
Dear beccy. Happy mothers day. It's hard when you're not with people you love. I'm enjoying hanging out with my mum at the moment, it's just bliss. When we're not fighting...
