Bits and Nieces

I'm having a very busy weekend as I am minding my three year old niece because her little sister is in hospital. Ruth was one a few weeks ago and was recently diagnosed with hip displasia. When she was tested for it at birth and six weeks she was fine, unfortunately she didn't have her next check up until 11 months (it should have been six months but there are delays here) and it was picked up. Ruth has been in hospital for 11 days in traction and her Mum is practically living there. My mother-in-law has been helping look after Hannah during the week and on Friday night Hannah went to stay with Ella another cousin then came to us yesterday. Yesterday Mollie was in another Girls Brigade competition, the competition was called Musical Drama and Mollie's team sang and danced to a selection of songs from The Sound of Music. There were eight teams in the contest and Mollie's team came third-well done girls. Today we are going to bring Hannah to the National Aquatic Centre for some fun swimming before we returned her exhausted but happy (we hope) to her parents.

Beccy Hannah will love being with her cousins and enjoy the aquatic centre.
Tell Mollie well done from me, wish I could have seen her perform.

ooo- I love the Sound of Music! I listen to the soundtrack all the time- which songs did they perform?

I am sorry about your niece's hip-- what a horrible thing for her to go through.

Now, I know I'll alienate the only visitor to my blog, (I insulted your Mom's love for Abba too!) But Oooh, I hate the sound of Music - It pains me to think of another generation being reared to adore that kitschy musical! (evil grin!) How do you solve a problem like Maria being loved by generations and generations?! That is so good of you to take care of your nieces!

Congratulations to Mollie and her team!
I hope your neice gets better soon. Traction can't be fun for a kid. How old is she now?
I hope you guys have fun at the aquatic center.
My boys are going to an aquatic park with a friend of mine today also.

What a horrible thing for a young child to go through. I hope that she's young enough that she may not remember later on, and that she doesn't have to go through it again.
I bet it's very lively at your house with a three-yer old around! Have fun.

I missed the part about her being one, so luckily she won't remember. Her poor Mom, though, I'm sure she's been through the ringer.

I'm really sorry to hear about Ruth, it must be awfully tough on everyone. Sending positive thoughts....

Whoa there Chris, hold on! Don't you go forgiving people who hate the Sound of Music! That's just not acceptable. Next you'll be saying that Gilbert and Sullivan shouldn't be mandatory for all school children, and then where would we be.

Poor baby!!! And poor parents..........

No wonder you were so tired though.........

We all forget how tiring toddlers can be when the little ones are growing up a bit!
